Two Saints Sign with Lobos

KSCB News - June 30, 2010 12:00 am

Two Seward County baseball players think Seward to New Mexico seems like a natural progression. Outfielder Luke Campbell and infielder/pitcher Quay Grant both signed to play baseball at UNM. The Lobos were 38-22 and made the NCAA Tournament this season. Campbell hit .378 with nine homers and 65 RBI’s for the 33-30 Saints. The Arvada, Colorado native hit .362 with 11 homers and 57 RBI’s his freshman year at Seward. Campbell tied Robby Deevers for eighth on Seward’s all time homer list with 20.

New Mexico looks at Grant as an infielder and a pitcher. The Burkburnett, Texas native hit .365 with seven homers and 51 RBI’s. The Seward closer was 2-1 with three saves and a 3.67 ERA. Grant hit .330 with a homer and 20 RBI’s his freshman year.

Grant was named a first team all Jayhawk West player while Luke Campbell made the second team.
