USD 480 School Board Meets

The USD 480 Board of Education met Monday night for a regularly scheduled meeting. During reports the board was informed by Jill Stout that USD 480 has met AYP as a District for the first time since 2004. The results are un-official, but will become official soon.

Action items approved by the board 5-0 with Tammy Sutherland-Abbott and Stacy Johnson absent includes the passing of the bills; the consent agenda which includes two overnight trips; the district acceptable use policies for the internet; renewal of the Heartspring contract; the purchase of hot carts for the lunch rooms; the purchase of vacuums; the purchase of two new copy machines; the acceptance of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant; certified resignations, transfers, and employment; classified employment, resignations, and transfers; the approval of implementing the FOCUS Alternative School and the transfer of Bill Waldorf to FOCUS. The board also approved a ramp, seating and walking plans, and steps for West Middle School’s outdoor bleachers at their new football field 4-1 with Reid Petty opposing.

New assistant superintendent Diane Gross was also in attendance for her first meeting and was given a public welcome by board president Dan Diepenbrock to begin the meeting.

The board will next meet on Monday, July 12. The board will re-organize on that date.
