Bee Jays Take Aim on Bombers

The Bee Jays scored 22 runs in seven innings in their season opening 22-7 win over the Denver Bombers Friday night at Brent Gould Field. The BJ’s had 21 hits and won the game despite committing five errors in their opener. The Jays scored three in the first, eight in the second, three in the third, three in the forth, and five in the sixth. The game was cut short due to a run rule. Joe Vaskas of Concordia College was 3-4 with five RBI’s while Joe Perez of College of the Sequoias was 3-5 with a homer and a double. Chandler-Gilbert’s Aaron Mees was 3-4 with two doubles and two RBI’s. Lubbock Christian’s Richard Bohlken was 2-3 with four RBI’s. Cal-Monterey’s Randall Packard went 3-5 withy three RBI’s. McNeese State’s Renny Weber was 2-2 with two RBI’s. On the mound, College of the Sequoias right hander John Niggli pitched four innings allowing two earned runs. Angelina College’s Austin Robson pitched two innings without allowing an earned run and struck out four. Tyler Rockafellow of Trinity University struck out the side in the seventh and didn’t allow an earned run. The Bombers are 2-1. The same two team play Saturday night at Brent Gould Field. Brown’s Furnture is the buyout sponsor. The next game on the radio will be Tuesday night.
