Burglary in Guymon

On May 16, Guymon Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of North Beaver Street where an eyewitness reported that she saw two Hispanic males enter her grandson’s truck and take speakers out of it. According to information obtained from the Texas County Court Clerk’s office, the men allegedly put the stolen equipment in their truck. The stolen items were listed as two subwoofers and an amplifier.

The stolen property was located later that night in a private room at the Oaks of Mamre Homeless Shelter. Police were dispatched to the Oaks of Mamre where the director suspected drug possession. That’s when the stereo equipment as well as drug paraphernalia was found. The room where the illegal material was found belonged to Jose Luis Torres, 35, of Guymon.

The other suspect, Salvador Tamayo, 49 of Guymon, was arrested early the next morning on a DUI charge, driving under suspension, possession of marijuana within 1000 Ft of a school, possession of paraphernalia, open container, no seat belt and reckless driving.

Torres is being charged with three felony counts– Burglary in the Second Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the Second Degree and Knowingly Concealing Stolen Property. He is also charged with the misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the Texas County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond. He could face up to 19 years in prison.

Tamayo is being charged with two felony counts– Burglary in the Second Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the Second Degree. He is at the Texas County Detention Center where he could face up to 17 years in prison.
