Seminole State Stymies Seward

KSCB News - May 20, 2010 12:00 am

Seward head softball coach Andrea Gustafson has been concerned all season about her offense’s inconsistency. After going to nationals last year, the SCCC head coach knew the pitching in St. George, Utah is ramped up several notches from what the Lady Saints see in Kansas competition. But not many around the Seward program expected this. Eighth seeded Seward had just one hit and struck out 16 times in a 4-0 loss to Seminole State (49-15) Thursday afternoon i nthe first round of the NJCAA Tournament. Seminole hit two homers against starting pitcher Erin Roufosse who entered the game with a program best .71 ERA. Seward loses in the first round for the second consecutive season after losing to Wallace State last year. Seward went 3-2 at last year’s event. If Seward is to extend their NJCAA experience another day, they need to beat Pitt (39-12) Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. central time. Pitt is the 16 seed from Greenville, North Carolina. The game will air on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
