KSCB News - April 14, 2010 12:00 am

It was a tough day on Wednesday for the Seward County Saints baseball team to what has been a roller coaster like year as No.19 Clarendon swept a doubleheader from Seward County at Brent Gould Field.

Clarendon won game one 9-2. The Bulldogs scored first taking a 1-0 lead in the second, but Seward bounced back with a run in the bottom half of the third. Clarendon scored five runs in the third though and three more in the sixth to run away with it. Jase Morgan led the way for the Bulldogs going 2-3 with two home runs, five RBI’s and a walk. Gabe Thibodeau added two RBI’s. In the loss, Ty Jacobs hit a solo home run for the Saints. Hayden Holub got the loss for the Saints.

Clarendon took game two 9-3. Giovanni Zayas had a homer and three RBI’s to lead the way for the Bulldogs. Luke Campbell hit a solo home run for Seward, while Eddie Williams had an RBI single for the Saints. Jared Wagner got the loss for Seward.

Clarendon improves to 32-9-1 on their season. The Bulldogs are coached by former BJ player Mike Silva who played in Liberal in 2001. Seward drops to 21-22 overall. The Saints are still atop the Jayhawk West standings though at 17-7 and will return to Jayhawk West play this weekend when Pratt visits Liberal for a four game series. Saturday and Sunday’s doubleheaders are both slated to start at 1 p.m.
