Seward Bats Come Alive Against Frank Phillips

KSCB News - March 13, 2010 12:00 am

The Seward bats swung like the wind in two run rule wins over Frank Phillips Friday at Lady Saints Field. Seward won 14-6 and 11-3 with a 40 mile per hour wind gusting out to right. Head coach Andrea Gustafson says she liked what she saw at the plate. “I think we came out swinging the bats pretty well today,” Gustafson said. “We’ve been struggling with that but the girls came out with more confidence and hopefully that will carry on next week going into spring break.” In game one, Briana Baron, Kelsea Blackstock, and Leah Sitter had three hits a piece. Alicia Reyes blasted a homer while Marisa Coats and Amy Schartz had two hits a piece. In game two, Sitter hit two triples while Coats added two hits. Brittany Kent laced a homer over the right field fence. Seward is 17-3 going into their spring break trip to El Paso and then Arizona. Seward plays Odessa Sunday in El Paso.
