Broncbusters Bury Saints Again

Brock Kappelmann - February 9, 2023 7:07 am

For the second time this season, the Seward County Saints incurred a blowout to the rival Garden City Broncbusters.  Wednesday night in Conestoga Arena in Garden City, the Buster blew out the Saints 84-52.

Seward was never in the game.  GCCC jumped all over the Saints early 18-2.  The Saints cut the lead to 20-12.  The Broncbusters led the Saints 37-23 at halftime.  Garden led 48-25, 51-25, 58-27, and 62-28.  Garden City led by as many as 37 in the win.

Garden City shot 54 percent from the field while making 10-22 three pointers and 12-14 at the free throw line.  Seward shot 35 percent while making 5-17 from three and 9-17 at the foul line.  The Busters bullied the Saints on the boards 37-21.  Seward committed 16 turnovers and Garden City had 19.

Wilson Dubinsky led the Saints with 11 points and seven assists to be the Epic Touch Player of the Game.

Seward has dropped the last four against GCCC and falls to 12-13 overall and 8-11 in the Jayhawk.  Garden City is 16-7 overall and 11-7 in the KJCCC.  Seward hosts Cowley for homecoming Saturday at 4pm on 107.5.  The Saints tip off with the Tigers after the Saints Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony.  Homecoming will be during halftime of the men’s game.  Equity Bank is the buyout sponsor.
