Census Hiring 4000 Workers

KSCB News - February 23, 2010 12:00 am

As National Census day fast approaches, the U.S. Census Bureau is stepping up its efforts to recruit local residents as official census takers to work on the 2010 Census.

The 2010 Census is a huge undertaking that provides temporary employment opportunities for the residents of Kansas interested in working at the census. Census jobs offer good pay, flexible hours, and paid training while performing an important public service. Best of all, those hired may get to work in their own communities. All census takers must be able to speak English, but there is a need for bilingual speakers also.

The U.S. Census Bureau is in the process of hiring approximately 4,000 temporary workers in the State of Kansas from now until July 2010. This is a great opportunity for retirees, students and anyone who is between jobs or is looking for part-time employment. Interested applicants must be U.S. Citizens, 18 years or older, have a valid Social Security number, and be available to work 20-40 hours per week. Applicants must take a general competency test and undergo a background check. Interested persons should call 1-866-861-2010 to find out how and where to apply for a job with the 2010 Census.
