Board of Education Reaches Contract Agreement with Stout

KSCB News - February 23, 2010 12:00 am

The USD 480 Board of Education came to an agreement on Monday night with Deputy Superintendent Lance Stout to become the next Superintendent at USD 480 effective June 1, 2010. The contract is a two year deal that is worth $130,000 per year. The board approved the contract with a 5-0 vote with Stacy Johnson and Tammy Sutherland-Abbott absent.

The board also approved the consent agenda which included the waiver of a building rental fee and an overnight trip.

In new business action items the board approved the purchase of some Lenovo Ideapad Computer Carts and IBM Blade Servers. These two items were paid for out of the Technology budget. Business Director Jerry Clay said the Technology Department still has a $50,000 emergency fund in which only $10,000 has been spent this year so the equipment purchased won’t affect the budget in a negative way. Technology director Terry Adams stressed the importance of the equipment at the last meeting in which he gave the board a heads up that these two items would be up for approval and that they are necessary to keep the computer system and testing computers up to date and working the most effective way possible. The board also approved certified resignations and a retirement.

The board will next meet on Monday, March 8. During that meeting there will be more information given on possible restructuring at South Middle School and Liberal High School. Stay tuned to kscbnews.net later this week for a story on a USD 480 administrator who is going to be given an award by the Head Start Program.
