House Committee Approves Energy Efficiency Measure

KSCB News - February 17, 2010 12:00 am

(AP) – A House committee has approved a bill that would help Kansans who want to use renewable energy and increase energy efficiency.

Under the bill, local governments could form energy management districts that would issue bonds to property owners for energy improvements.

The bonds would then be paid off through assessments on the property owners’ property tax bill.

More than 15 states have similar energy laws in place.
