Residential Fire – 1500 Bluebell Road #309

At 8:14 am Friday the Liberal Fire Department was dispatched to 1500 E Bluebell Road #309. A 911 caller reported a mobile home with heavy smoke issuing from both ends of the residence.

The first arriving fire and law enforcement officers encountered heavy smoke from the entire length of the residence and could not confirm if the home was occupied.

Firefighters made entry and were able to quickly knock down a fire in the kitchen area. Primary search of the home confirmed that there were no occupants at the time the fire occurred. The fire was declared under control at 8:30 am.

The entire residence suffered extensive fire, heat & smoke damage. Firefighters remained on-scene until 9:41 am extinguishing smoldering areas and investigating the origin and cause of the fire. The fire is believed to be accidental in nature and to have originated in the area of the kitchen stove. The residence was rendered uninhabitable from the fire.

Liberal Fire responded with a total of 14 personnel, two engines and four support / chief officer vehicles. Agencies also assisting with the fire are the Liberal / Seward County Communications Center, Liberal Police Department, Seward County EMS, Black Hills Energy & Southern Pioneer Electric.
