County Commission Approves Wage Increase for Employees

The Seward County Board of County Commissioners met on Tuesday evening and due to rising costs, Commissioners approved the switch of vendors from Dude Solutions to Upkeep, for a savings of $1,955.98 and an increase in functionality and features.

The Commission approved to recover encumbrances from 2021 for the Event Center for the purchase of equipment and to add labor to an item. Encumbrance amount is $12,753.82, and approved the purchase of 2 Side Load Trash Trucks and moved to the next meeting the bid from South West Equipment 36yd body. Commissioners approved the purchase of a Foley Caterpillar loader for $146,083.05 with a 5year lease purchase through Equity Bank. The Commission also approved the purchase of a warranty for the loader.

Also approved was the purchase Rolloff Truck from Custom Truck and Equipment in the amount $193,180.00

Commissioner’s tabled the Sheriff’s request to waive the fees and designated an area of Restlawn Cemetery for Law Enforcement K-9’s.

Commissioners approved of a Conditional Use Permit to allow construction of 4 tanks at 8664 Road P to expand the existing compressor facility to include 2 new buildings at the facility owned by CapturePoint LLC at the Arkalon Ethanol Plant.

Approved for County employees was a wage increase of 2% retroactive to January 1st, with further information to come with the possibility of a larger percentage. A longevity bonus was also approved using ARPA funds.
