Seward County Fire Kept Busy Tuesday

On 12/28/2021 @ 12:52 pm Seward County Fire Department was dispatched to Road P and Road 8 for a vegetation fire threatening structures. Seward County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived on scene and evacuated a immediate threatened residence just south of the Fire. Firefighters arrived on scene to find 2 acres with a moderate rate of spread moving south. Forward progress was stopped, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished. The department responded with 6 Firefighters, 3 engines, 2 water tenders, and 2 chief officers. No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to any structures. Cause of the fire was accidental in nature caused by welding.

At 1:16 PM on 12/28/2021 Seward County Fire Department was also dispatched to a vegetation fire in the area of Road 6 and Road Q. A chief officer and 1 engine was diverted from the Road P and Road 8 incident. Units arrived on scene to find a small vegetation fire out by bystanders. No injuries or damage was reported. The cause of the fire was accidental in nature and caused by electrical work.

Seward County Firefighters want remind all residents current vegetation is extremely dry and the wind conditions continue to elevate fire conditions in the county. We ask all residents to continue to take extra precautions when working outdoors and to remain fire wise.
