Seward County Fire Busy on Wednesday

On Wednesday, July 14th, at approximately 1:08 am Seward County Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 16000 block of Andrew Lane. Units arrived on scene to find local residents extinguishing a fire in a out building using water hoses. Units performed salvage and overhaul of the outbuilding. The cause of the fire is determined to be spontaneous combustion. The department responded with 5 firefighters 2 chief officers 2 engines and 1 water tender. Seward County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported and minor damage occurred.

Then, at approximately 10:43 am, the Seward County Fire Department responded again to the 16000 block of Andrew Lane for smoke coming from an outbuilding. Units arrived on scene to find some hay material that had rekindled in the windy conditions, units extinguished the embers and removed the material from the building. The department responded with 2 chief officers, 3 firefighters and 2 engines. No injuries were reported. The department was assisted by the Seward County Sheriff’s Office
