Liberal Police Shared Fireworks Ordinance

With the upcoming 4th of July holiday, the Liberal Police Department would like to remind everyone of the current fireworks ordinance. Ordinance 4555 adopted on 04/27/2021, states that fireworks may only be discharged on July 3rd between 8:00 am and 11:pm, July 4th between 8:00 am and midnight, and July 5th between 8:00 am and 11:00 pm.
Fireworks may only be discharged on private property with the consent of the property owner. Fireworks may not be discharged on any public street, alley, or avenue or in any park or public place in the City.
Fireworks may be sold in the City of Liberal between June 27th to July 4th. Bottle rockets remain illegal to be discharged in the State of Kansas.
Violation of the fireworks ordinance is punishable by a fine of not less than $100.00 not more than $1,000.00 and up to 90 days in jail.
During the holiday weekend, the Liberal Police Department will have extra officers on Patrol to ensure everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July holiday.
