Seven Women Make Pancake Day Commitment

Seven women so far have signed up to compete in the 60th International Pancake Day Race on Februray 24. The seven contestants are Mikayla Knudsen, 19; Jeanette Contreras, 18; Kari Wiltse, 29; Lynn Gerstenkorn, 54; Jerri Lynn Lyddon, 52; Ruthie Luallen, 52; and Kim Thomas, 43. The International Race is limited to 15 contestants and the dealine to sign up is February 19. Any woman who is 18 or older, has a Liberal address and has “domestic duties” is eligible to enter. Seven have signed up for the Men’s Pacer Race and six women including 81 year old Bill Warden and daughter Alicia Bird have signed up for the Last Chance Race. Warden won Liberal’s first International Pancae Day Race in 1950.
