Saints Use 12 Run Inning to Split with Colby

The Seward baseball team began their third Jayhawk West series of the season Thursday at Brent Gould Field.  Colby clobbered the Saints 17-3 in five innings in game one and Seward took the second game 13-12.

In game one, Colby scored in every inning.  They scored one in the first and three in the second while SCCC scored one in the first and two in the second for a 4-3 Colby lead after two.  But the Trojans would add three in the third, and five in the fourth and fifth.  Seward didn’t scored again and only had one hit the rest of the way.  Wyatt Grant and AJ Folds doubled in the loss.

In game two, the Saints had one huge inning to lift them to victory.  The Trojans scored one in the first and five in the second.  The Saints unloaded a 12 spot in the third and then held on.  Seward scored one in the fourth to lead 13-11 after four.  Colby scored one in the eighth to make it 13-12.  The Saints won despite Colby out hitting the Saints 14-9.  The Saints did not commit an error.   Cory Didier went 4 and 1/3 innings out of the bullpen for the Saints.  Jonathan Cantu had three RBI’s in the win.

Seward is 7-14 overall and 4-6 in the Jayhawk West while Colby is 9-13 overall and 5-5 in the Jayhawk West.  Seward plays at Colby Saturday at 1 pm. The next KSCB broadcast is game one Thursday at Dodge City.
