Late Night Accident Claims Holcomb Man in Haskell County

A late night single vehicle accident Wednesday night, has claimed the life of a Holcomb Man.

The accident occured at approximately 11:35pm 4 miles south of US Highway 160 on County Road FF. A 1998 Ford Taurus being driven by Johnnie Trevor Coates, 18, of Holcomb, was traveling north on County Road FF when he drove left of center. The Taurus left the roadway to the left heading north. The vehicle began to rotate on all four tires in a clockwise direction then overturned over the driver’s side an undetermined amount of times. Coates was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The Ford came to rest facing Southeast in the northbound lane. Airbags were not deployed.

Coates died at the scene.
