Wanda Kennedy

Wanda Kennedy, age 92, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Monday, November 23, 2020, at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses, Kansas.  She was born September 7, 1928, in Ulysses, Kansas, the daughter of James and Veris (Johnson) Kinsman. 

 

Wanda was raised in Ulysses and graduated from Grant County Rural High School.  She married Leonard Kennedy on February 14, 1948, in Hutchinson, Kansas. Wanda was a homemaker and engaged in farming with her husband.  Wanda was a member of Hickok Club, Monday Study Club, First United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women.  She loved to travel and drive to different places to eat.  She also enjoyed spending time reading, working puzzles, and watching sports on TV.  Wanda was most passionate about the time she got to spend with her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

 

Wanda is survived by her daughters, Jan Slider and husband Jeff of Nutrioso, Arizona, Linda Hampton and husband Lyle of Ulysses, and Dana Kennedy of Ulysses; sister-in-law, Patsy Kinsman; two grandchildren, Justin Meyer and Amber Hampton; two great-grandchildren, Nora Lamb and Charlie Meyer; the third great-grandchild, Jack Meyer will be arriving soon;  and several nieces and nephews. 

 

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard Kennedy; brother, Bob Kinsman; sisters, Charlene Williams and Donna McGillivray; and granddaughter, Mallory Meyer.

 

Graveside service will be Friday, November 27, 2020, at 2:00 PM at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas, with Pastor Gerry Dupuis officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, Kansas 67880.
