2 Juveniles Die in Texas County Accident

A fatality collision occurred Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:39pm on US Highway 54 approximately .25 mile north 3.5 miles east of Texhoma, Oklahoma in Texas County.

A 2008 Chrysler Town & Country Van driven by Intessar Al Yasiri, 30, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, was westbound on US 54. A 2019 Volvo Semi driven by Makk Szabolcs, 34, of Toronto, Canada was parked on north shoulder of US 54. The van left the road to the right striking the semi. The van then continued down the semi striking axle 3 and came to rest on US 54 facing southbound on the outside lane of traffic.

The driver of the van was transported by Goodwell EMS to the Texas County Memorial Hospital and was treated and released.

Two passengers in the van, a 9 year old male and a 3 year old male died at the scene due to their injuries.

An 8 year old female from Las Cruces, NM was transported by Lifestar to North Texas Hospital in Amarillo, TX and was treated and released.

A 2 year old male from Las Cruces NM was transported by Lifestar to North Texas Hospital in Amarillo, TX and then later transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX where he was admitted in critical condition with head injuries.

Three other passengers in the van, a 6 year old male, a 1 year old male, and a 4 month old male, were not injured.

The driver of the semi was also not injured.

Seat belts were not in use by the children who passed away.
