Cynthia Rodriguez-Mendoza, age 48, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City Medical Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born April 26, 1972, in Ulysses, Kansas, the daughter of Apolonio, Jr. and Salome (Garza) Rodriguez.

Cynthia grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1990. She then obtained an Associates Degree at Dodge City Community College, and Bachelor of Science Degree from Ft. Hays State University. As an educator for 28 years, Cynthia encouraged everyone to get an education. Her passion was to help others succeed and graduate. She also was a bookkeeper at ACC. Cynthia was a devout member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she served and taught catechism. She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done weekly, listening to music, and was a fan of Michael Salgado, and a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and KU. Her greatest enjoyment came from her family. She loved her children and they consider her the “Best Mom Ever”. Cynthia enjoyed social and family gatherings and her sisters were her best friends.

Cynthia married Adolfo Mendoza on Feburay 27, 1997. He preceded her in death in 2010.

Cynthia is survived by four sons, Xavier Rodriguez, Ejon Mendoza, Adolfo Mendoza, Jr., and Eli Mendoza all of Ulysses; one daughter, Alexis Mendoza of Ulysses; parents, Apolonio, Jr., and Salome Rodriguez of Ulysses; one brother, Apolonio III and wife Eva of Ulysses; sisters, Diana Hurtado and husband Oscar of Liberal, Sandra Anchondo and husband Erineo, Sr. of Ulysses, Lupita Rodriguez of Ulysses, and Josie Rodriguez and husband Fabian of Ulysses; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Family Vigil and Rosary Service will be Monday, July 13, 2020, at 7:00 PM and a family Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at 12:00 PM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Aneesh Parappanattu, MSFS officiating. Services can be viewed on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Live. Interment will follow at Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, July 12, 2020, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Monday, July 13, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM both at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to Rodriguez Mendoza Children Education Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
