Southern Pioneer Electric Extends Disconnect for Non-Payment Suspension

Joe Denoyer - May 1, 2020 8:58 am

In an effort to continue mitigating the financial hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Southern Pioneer Electric has extended its disconnection moratorium for non-payment until June 1, 2020.

“We understand that customers are facing a potential financial hardship” said Anita Wendt, vice president of energy services. “We want to do everything in our power to help ease these burdens and assist our communities as we move forward.”

The moratorium does not dismiss the responsibilities of costumers to pay current or outstanding bills. Costumers are encouraged to continue paying their bills, as they are able. Customer service representatives are available to assist those who have questions about their bill, need to set up pay arrangements or wish to make payments. Customers who are signed up to have their bill automatically withdrawn (auto-pay) will continue to have funds applied to their bills.

Southern Pioneer Electric has also removed all penalties associated with late payment fees until further notice. Customers will receive a credit on their May bill for late fees accumulated in March and April.

“Southern Pioneer Electric is committed to our principle of being customer-focused; we are here to assist our customers and help them navigate these trying times” said Wendt. “We also encourage customers to continue utilizing our out-of-office payment methods, a full list of these options can be found on our website at southernpioneer.net”

Questions regarding the extension of the disconnect suspension or penalty removal may be directed to Southern Pioneer Electric by calling 1-800-670-4381. Southern Pioneer Electric will continue to keep customers informed about their mitigation efforts thought its Facebook page and website (southernpioneer.net).
