Texas County Confirms Second Positive Case of COVID 19

Joe Denoyer - April 4, 2020 12:10 pm

By Miranda Gilbert
Texas County Emergency Management PIO

Texas County officials confirmed the second positive COVID-19 test on Saturday, April 4. The test result was from a sample taken March 18.

An investigation into any positive result is standard and all persons in close contact with the person will be notified and advised of quarantine. No other details were released.

Residents are encouraged to seek testing when experiencing the three main symptoms of COVID-19. The three symptoms must be present for testing, which include a fever, shortness of breath, and coughing. In about 40 percent of cases, diarrhea is also present prior to the fever and cough, although medical professionals will remind you that this symptom alone is not necessarily indicative of COVID-19.

Residents who are not working in essential staff positions as designated by the state and national government are strongly encouraged to remain home and practice social distancing. If anyone in the community has access to Personal Protective Equipment please contact the hospital at 580-338-6515.
