1st Ever Church Cook-Off Challenge Huge Success

Ashley Home Store of Liberal hosted the 1st ever Church Cook-Off Challenge on Saturday October 12th.

Eight churches participated in the event which included Central Christian, Friends Church, Trinity Faith, New Beginnings, Lone Star Friends Church, First Southern Baptist, All Nations, and Centralia Familia Church.

The Churches brought their “Sunday Best” dinners which included main dishes , sides, and desserts. Everything from chicken and noodles, enchiladas, pulled pork, brisket, and more for the main course, green beans, zucchini soup, rice and other dishes for the sides. Desserts included brownies, cake, lime and fruit bars, and other delectable sweets.

Tasting kits were sold at $5 to those who wanted to sample the delicious food from each Church.

Almost 160 tasting kits were sold with the money being split between the participants. With each tasting kit sold, a ticket was given to vote for the People’s Choice winners.

Those winners were, 1st The Lone Star Friends Church winning $250. 2nd was New Beginnings winning $150, and 3rd Place and $100 went to All Nations. All monies were donated by Ashley Home Store.

Crossroads Therapeutic Riding Center offered Pony rides and stick horse races, and kids also got to enjoy Jump 4 Fun jumpy houses.
