Seward County Sheriff’s Office Assist in Dodge City Meth Bust

KSCB News - September 25, 2019 8:48 pm

A year-long investigation involving the alleged distribution of large quantities of methamphetamine resulted in two arrests this week, according to the Dodge City Police Department.

Police say officers from multiple agencies served two federal arrest warrants Monday morning. Officers arrested Danny Del Real of Import Automotive on six counts of distribution of methamphetamine. The Seward County Sheriff’s Office and Gray County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the two search warrants as well.

Officers arrested Pete Avila on Wednesday following an arrest warrant on state charges alleging distribution of methamphetamine, conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, and unlawful acts involving proceeds derived from a drug transaction. Avila was booked into Ford County Jail.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Ford County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Homeland Security, Kansas Department of Alcohol Beverage Control and the Kansas Highway Patrol all assisted Dodge police in the year-long investigation.

“We greatly appreciate the assistance from each of the agencies, many of which invested countless working hours and financial support in helping us make this case successful. As with any criminal case, please remember that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” said the Dodge City Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are pending.
