Traffic stop nets BIG BUST in Gray County

Steven Rains - August 14, 2019 3:11 pm

Authorities in southwest Kansas have arrested two men after a deputy found more than two pounds of marijuana, a loaded handgun and thousands of dollars in case in their car.

According to the Gray County Sheriff’s Office, one of its deputies stopped a car Tuesday night for a traffic violation on Highway 50.

“During that stop he detained the driver and passenger of the vehicle for plain view marijuana possession,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.

During a search of the car, the deputy found about 2.2 pounds of pot, a loaded 9mm handgun and just under $5,000 in cash.

The driver and passenger were booked into the Meade County Jail. Their names were not released.

The sheriff’s office thanked Deputy Ligon, Sgt. Ellis and the Kansas Highway Patrol for their assistance.
