Kansas Child Rape Suspect arrested in New Mexico

Steven Rains - July 3, 2019 5:55 pm

On 6-28-2019, the DCPD was notified of a sexual abuse case involving a young female child. Detectives moved quickly to investigate the allegations but by the time they attempted to locate the suspect the same day, he was nowhere to be found. A criminal case was filed with the Ford County Attorney’s Office and an arrest warrant was issued on 7/2/2019, for 44 year old, Jeremy Jason Jacquez, on the charges of Criminal Sodomy, Aggravated Criminal Sodomy of a child under 14, Rape of a child under 14, and Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a child. Detectives continued to pursue the case and were able to develop a lead on his current location last night in New Mexico. Detectives contacted Alamogordo, New Mexico Police for assistance in locating and getting Mr. Jacquez into custody. The Alamogordo Police Department responded immediately and through a relentless multi-hour effort were able to capture Mr. Jacquez last night.

I want to give a huge thank you to the Alamogordo Police Department for their assistance with this and highlight how we as a community of law enforcement across this great nation work together for the good and protection of our individual communities. I am so proud of our detectives and the APD detectives for their dedication and perseverance in this case.

Remember, in our justice system, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Chief Francis
