Scott City Woman Sentenced To 18 Months For Embezzlement

A former employee of a Scott City bank will spend her next 18 months behind bars.

54-year-old, Cindy Bailey of Scott City was handed the sentence by a US district judge. In July, she pleaded guilty to stealing money from Security State Bank.

From 2004 to 2008, she embezzled nearly $281,626 from the accounts of her customers. The theft was discovered during a routine FDIC audit.

Man Dead After Running In Front Of Truck

A Western Kansas man is dead after allegedly running in front of a moving pickup truck. The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the man as 20-year-old Christopher Glazier of Horace.

It’s not known why Glazier ran in front of the moving truck Saturday night on a road 20 miles northwest of the Wichita County town of Leoti. No on else was injured in the accident.

Gray County Crash Kills One

A Sublette man is dead after sustaining injuries from a two-car crash this weekend.

73-year-old Sammie Randles was driving just east of Copeland when his pickup collided with a freightliner on US Hwy. 56. Randles was taken to Western Plains Hospital in Dodge City, where he later died.

Fall Cleanup Begins in Garden City

Monday begins the annual fall cleanup in Garden City. The program is a free service provided to all residential areas.

City crews will focus on a different part of town each weekday for two weeks. Residents can leave debris, furniture, tires, and other large items on their curb and have it picked up by the public works department.
