Autumn Harvest May Break Record In Kansas

KSCB News - October 1, 2009 12:00 am

With prospects of record fall crops, Kansas farmers are anxious to harvest. But theyź??re having to work around the changing weather.

Many area farmers are starting to harvest soybeans, one of the three big fall crops.

If crop forecasters are correct, Kansas farmers will have a lot to harvest this fall. Corn is forecast at 518.4 million bushels, soybeans at 140 million bushels and milo at 82 bushels per acre.

There are also high hopes for large crops across the nation. The U.S. corn crop is forecast to have the highest yield per acre and be the second largest crop.

Record crops will impact price and will likely be more than elevators can store.
