Seward County Commissioners met Monday evening for their regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30pm in the Seward County Administration Building. Among the items on the agenda, County Commissioners proclaimed October 4 – 10 as 4-H Week in Seward County. Commissioners also accepted the bid from Foley Catepillar for a new road grader for the Road and Bridge Department in the amount of $148,881.00 with a 5 year buy out of $130,000.00. In response to a petition, the Seward County Commission agreed to set the speed limit on the Garretsville Frontage Road at 35MPH. After a lengthy discussion, and a split vote, commissioners moved recommend to the Council on Aging that they allocate $32,00.00 to Kismet Senior Center with the balance of the 1 mill to the Liberal Senior Citizens Center and the Council on Aging. Kismet had originally only asked for $27,000.00. In other action, the commission approved to continue with the fair, and continue for the time being, with the Fair Association. The next meeting of the Seward County Commission is set for October 5, 2009.
