Liberal City Commission Meets, Approves University Center

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and after hearing a presentation approved Resolution 2293 which would create a University Center in cooperation with other communities in Southwest Kansas. The Center would utilize space at the old St. Mary’s of the Plains College in Dodge City. The City of Dodge City would be responsible for remodeling the space.

Commissioners approved the Fall Tree Match Program not to exceed $5000 with the trees being available to Liberal residents beginning September 12.

Appointed an approved as voting delegates to the annual League of Kansas Municipalities conference were Commissioners Harden, Carlile, Martinez, and Warren, and appointed to the Liberal Housing Authority Board was Clint Forward.

The City Commission will be part of the Joint meeting on Thursday at the depot which is being hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.
