Liberal City Commission Meets, Approves City Manager Contract

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and on the agenda was the City’s Managers contract. With Calvin Burke at the last meeting being moved from Interim City Manager, to having the job full time, a new contract was before the Commission. The contract was approved by the Commission and includes a base pay of $120,000 per year for 3 years with an automatic annual renewal, benefits(insurance, retirement, additional training, memberships, etc) and a vehicle.

Also approved was a utility rate increase for water, sewer, and solid waste removal. The average rate increase per household is approximately $15-$17 per month.

Commissioners approved SRT uniforms and equipment for the Police Department, approved authorizing the sale of General Obligation Bonds not to exceed $1.4 million, and approved the Authorization of a Deferred Compensation Plan for employees.

City Commissioners approved the Project Management agreement with Earles Engineering in the amount of $14,768 awarded the Mid America Air Museum sidewalk bid to JAG in the amount of $29,224 and moved $5,529 to the T Hangar Taxiway Project.

The City will have to drill on Water Wells 35 and 45, cost of this project is $864,985.

Commissioners have also scheduled a Special Meeting for Thursday, July 12th at 2:00pm at City Hall with National Beef to discuss Wastewater.
