SCCC Welcomes Community to July 4th Bee Jays Celebration

Joe Denoyer - July 2, 2018 11:58 am

Seward County Community College’s Brent Gould Field welcomes the community to a Fourth of July extravaganza, featuring the Liberal Bee Jays and plenty of old-fashioned fun for the family.

Community groups will host a hot dog feed, bouncy houses, and more for families starting at 2 p.m. in the area immediately adjacent to the field on the SCCC main campus.

Liberal’s own semi-pro Bee Jays will take on the Dodge City A’s at 7 p.m., with a fireworks display to follow after the game.

“Summer can be quiet on campus, so we’re especially pleased to welcome the community in to celebrate Independence Day,” said college president, Dr. Ken Trzaska. “SCCC takes pride in hosting the Bee Jays all summer, and sharing the campus with friends and neighbors.”

Parking will be permitted in all normal parking lots on campus, except the dorm/softball field parking lot that is reserved for the Student Living Center residents.

Guests should also note that SCCC does not allow use of personal fireworks on campus, including the Hale Court dorm area and the Industrial Technology Campus.

When the official fireworks display is over, campus security requests that drivers exit the respective parking lot in a right-turn only fashion, to expedite traffic flow.
