Redskins Struggle in Season Opener at Newton

The Liberal Redskins opened up their 2009 football campaign Friday in Newton with a loss. The Railers defeated the Redskins 32-8.

The game was scoreless after one quarter, but the Railers scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 20-0 at halftime.

Liberal’s only touchdown came on a touchdown strike from junior quarterback Slade McVey to Kowan Russell. The two point conversion was successful.

The Redskins will host Guymon next Friday night at 7:30 at Redskin Field.
