KSCB News - September 4, 2009 12:00 am

Sheila Moffett, a graduate of the Medical Laboratory Technician program at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School in Liberal, Kansas, received the Kansas Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (KSCLS) Outstanding Student Award recently.

The Kansas Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (KSCLS) annually recognizes outstanding clinical laboratory science students from the Kansas clinical laboratory education programs.

ź??Sheila is a dedicated, knowledgeable, and responsible student academically,ź?ť said Suzanne Campbell, SCCC/ATS program coordinator for the MLT program. ź??Along with those qualities, Sheila also demonstrates strong laboratory skills and exceptional critical thinking skills.ź?ť

Moffett is a non-traditional student who balanced a family and full-time employment while completing the general education courses for the MLT program. She lives in Springfield, Colo., so the online format for the general education courses offered via EduKan and the online MLT courses offered her an opportunity to achieve her academic goals. She completed her clinical rotation in Colorado clinical affiliates sites. She earned her associate of applied science degree in August 2009 and is now eligible to sit for her national certification examination.
