Seward Win a Sight for Sore Eyes

Brock Kappelmann - February 17, 2018 9:57 pm

This was more like it.  The Seward county Saints returned to their dominating defensive ways Saturday night in Independence.  The Saints held the Pirates to 33% shooting. Seward defeated Independence 67-60  Saturday night at ICC Fieldhouse. It’s their first win at Indy since 2015. The Saints sweep the season series.

The Pirates led the Saints 31-25 at the half. Indy led by as many as nine early in the second half. Terrell Alfred used his only three pointer of the night to give the Saints a 49-47 lead. They would not trail again despite making just 16-32 free throws on the night and only 6-15 in the second half. Seward made 49 percent of their shots from the field.

Isiah Small had  15 points and eight rebounds.

Seward is 15-12 overall and 11-12 in the Jayhawk. Indy is 15-11 and 12-11 in the KJCCC.  Seward hosts the Colby Trojans  Wednesday night at 8 on 107.5 and kscbnews.net.
