Official Statement From Superintendent Hickert

Joe Denoyer - August 3, 2017 9:32 pm

With the new school year approaching, USD 480 Superintendent Renae Hickert issued the following statement:

In July, USD 480 district officials met with city officials and J&R Sand to discuss progress on the streets near our schools. We were assured that, barring heavy rain, the streets near Seymour Rogers would be ready by the time school starts. As superintendent, I am confident that the roads will be ready when school begins in late August.

In the event of a significant weather delay, school district staff are working with the city officials and the Liberal Police Department to plan the safest routes possible for all of our schools, including a backup if there is a delay in the completion of streets near Seymour Rogers Middle School. The district, city and the police department are all committed to providing the safest routes possible for all our schools.

Growth and change is hard work and there have been bumps along the way. Look at what we are getting in return for those efforts. New schools have been built and other schools have been renovated. New businesses are coming to town. This is a time of celebration for Liberal, Kansas and we have so much for which to be grateful. What an exciting time to be a citizen of Liberal! I would not be anywhere else.
