US-54 Resurfacing Begins in Meade County

Joe Denoyer - May 17, 2017 3:24 pm

The Kansas Department of Transportation will begin highway resurfacing of US-54 beginning at the Plains East City Limits and continuing East to the Meade City Limits.  Resurfacing is scheduled to begin Monday, May 22, 2017 weather permitting.

US-54 will be reduced to one lane guided by a pilot car during working hours with an approximate delay of 15 minutes during the project.  The project is expected to be completed by late July, weather permitting.  KDOT urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching a work zone and be prepared to stop.

Venture Corporation of Great Bend is the primary contractor on the project with an approximate construction cost of $1.4 million.

For more information on this project, please call Joyce Muhlenbruch, Construction Engineer, at (620)227-6122 or Lisa Knoll, KDOT District 6 Public Affairs Manager, at 620-765-7080.
