City Commission Meets, Approves Incentive to Foster Growth

Joe Denoyer - April 26, 2017 7:15 pm

The Liberal City Commission met Wednesday evening and approved 3 Ordinances which encouraged growth in Liberal.

The first ordinance, 4481, authorized the creation of a Community Improvement District for the area of North Liberal one. Ordinance 4482 Created a similar CID for North Liberal Two, and Ordinance 4483 Established a Redevelopment District in North Liberal. This would basically allow the utilization of Tax Increment Financing, or TIF’s for future development of the area.

The Commissioners also approved the Acdeptance of grants from local foundations for 2 more tornado shelters and the addition of seven picnic tables for Arkalon Park, and appointed Rick Carlile to fill the unexpired term to the Arkalon Council vacated by Tracy Gutierrez. The term on the board expires December 31, 2019.

Approved at the meeting was the purchase of AFFF firefighting foam for the airport apparatus from Danko Emergency Equipment not to exceed $7236.
