Liberal City Commission Meets, Approves Pickup Purchases

Joe Denoyer - April 11, 2017 7:31 pm

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening for their regularly scheduled meeting.

The meeting began with a proclamation declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. The Commission then heard from Rita Isaacs regarding Zito Cable and Cynthia Maldonado with concerns about her license to operate La Chirpa Bar.

In action items, the Commissioners approved the purchase of a pickup for the Water Department and a flatbed pickup for the Wastewater Department, both from Chrysler Corner of Liberal in the amounts of $19,276.00 and $27,371.00 respectively.

Also approved was the moving of the $400,000 for the construction of the new addition to the Animal Shelter from the Crime Prevention portion of the 1 cent sales tax to paying for the structure out of the Capital Improvements portion. The new shelter is operational with move in this week. Dog runs will be added in the near future.

The Commission invited the public to the “New and Coming Businesses 2017” which is Thursday evening at 6:00pm in the Seward County Commission Chambers.
