Fatality Accident Claims The Life of a Johnson Man

At approximately 10:29am Tuesday morning, a fatality accident occurred in Stevens County. The accident took place 9 miles north of Hugoton, when a 2001 Chevy Venture minivan being driven by James Farnham,28, of Johnson, ran a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 25 and County Road Y. The minivan went under the trailer of a 2015 Kenworth semi driven by William D. Parks, 46, of Garden City, where it was then struck by the rear wheels of the trailer, drug for a few feet before bursting into flames. Farnham died at the scene, Parks and a passenger in the semi, Andres Dominique Ortegon, 16, of Garden City, were not injured. The accident was investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol in cooperation with the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office.
