UPDATE at 6:34 p.m.
The large fire north east of Liberal has been reported as being 80% contained. Several homes have been lost and families affected.
The Activity Center has been designated as an emergency shelter. If you have been affected by the fires, or need assistance or shelter, please report the information to the Emergency Operations Center at the Activity Center (EOC). The number to the EOC is 620-624-3743. If you need immediate assistance, you should call 911.

Due to the extreme fire dangers in and around Seward County, multiple homes and families are being threatened, and some have even lost homes. To assist those that have lost their homes, or are having to evacuate their homes, Seward County has designated the Seward County Activity Center as the emergency shelter with resources provided by the Red Cross, Ministerial Alliance, and others. The Activity Center has also been designated as the emergency operations center (EOC). The Activity Center is currently open.
If you have been affected by the fires, please report the information to the EOC. The number to the EOC is 620-624-3743 for those who have questions or need assistance. If you need immediate assistance, you should call 911.
