Joe Denoyer - November 22, 2016 7:22 pm

rThe Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening with a light agenda before them. The Commission adopted Charter Ordinance #36 which essentially moves City Commission elections to November with new commissioners taking office in January following the elections. This repeals Charter Ordinance #4 which had elections in April, and brings the City in compliance with recent legislation that was signed by Governor Brownback.

Commissioners approved Beautification and Downtown Connectivity Projects which include: 3rd Street Fountain Repairs, 3rd Street Parking Lot Repairs, 3rd Street Lighting Improvements, The Depot Parking Lot, and Repairs to the Gazebo in Blue Bonnet Park.

The City Commission approved the acquisition of Snow Removal Equipment Project and allocated the 5% match of $42,222.00 and approved the Agreement for Services with H.W. Lochner, Inc, subject to legal counsel.

Milk Source, LLC donated $2,000 to the Liberal Police Department. The Commission approved the acceptance of the money, and approved the expenditure of these donated funds to buy office chairs for the Police Department. The chairs will come from Southern Office Supply.

The next meeting of the Liberal City Commission will be December 13th, 2016.
