Liberal and Garden City To Hold Community Chats, Gatherings Over Terror Plot

Joe Denoyer - October 21, 2016 3:19 pm

Liberal police and Seward County Community College will host a meeting Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Liberal Chamber of Commerce on Rock Island Road.  It starts at 3 p.m. With the recent terrorist plot, many Somali residents are concerned for their well-being and safety. The talk will be open to the public.

On Saturday, Garden City residents will meet at the strip mall on 8th and Mary Street at 7:30 p.m. They’ll walk from there at 7:45 p.m. to the complex on Mary, escorted by police. Residents can stand in observance while the Somali community conducts their evening prayer. All races and religions are welcome to attend. Officials say you are encouraged to bring your flag and fly it high, whether it be in support of law enforcement, your nationality, or your God.
