Rollover Accident Injures Liberal Woman

A two vehicle accident occurred Tuesday morning at approximately 9:46am. The accident happened when a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by Maggie Marcellus, 26, of Liberal, who was northbound on US 83 Highway, looked back to attend to an infant, Avin Marcellus, 1, in the backseat. The Jeep then entered the southbound lane striking the trailer of a 2001 Freightliner semi, being driven by Alfredo Tapia, 40, of Liberal, which was southbound on US 83. Marcellus’ vehicle then entered the west ditch rolling two times coming to rest upright. Tapia and the infant were not injured, Maggie Marcellus was taken to Southwest Medical Center to be treated for possible injuries. Seat belts and a child restraint were used in the vehicles.
