City Commission Meets, Approves Final Plat of Pinnacle Addition

The Liberal City Commission met on Tuesday evening at 5:30pm for their regularly scheduled meeting. Among the items on the agenda, the commissioners approved the condemnation of property at 616 W. 1st Street.

The Commission also approved the replacement of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus’ and furniture for the Fire Station.

Commissioners approved the acceptance of donated funds from the Mid America Air Museum Foundation of $12,000, to add to the $10,000 of budgeted City funds to restore the F14A Tomcat aircraft. Commissioners also approved the bid of Randy’s Proffessional Painting in the amount of $21,652 to complete the restoration project.

The City Commission approved the Final Plat of the North Pinnacle Addition, and appointed Ty Lewick to the Liberal Housing Authority Board and Pam Purvis to the Arkalon Council Board.

Safety was also a concern of the Commission as they approved the purchase of 2 sets of pedestrian flashing signals and safety barriers to be installed in Blue Bonnet Park and the Leete Family Park. The push button flashing lights would increase driver awareness of children crossing 8th Street and Pine Streets to gain access to the parks.

The Liberal City Commission will enter into Budget Sessions on Monday July 18th.
