Seward Softball Settles for Split

The Seward softball team split with Garden City Wednesday at Lady Saints Field and in the process probably suffered their most painful loss of the season. Seward lost 8-5 but won 4-3 after winning 15-5 and 15-2 in Garden City March 12.

In game one, Garden City led 4-2 and then scored four in the fifth to lead 8-2. Seward had four errors and Garden City out-hit Seward 11-10. Danielle Orr hit a home run in the loss.

Seward took the second game 4-3. The Lady Saints broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Pokey Ewell was 3-4 with three RBI’s and Orr was 3-3. Katelyn Craker struck out eight in the win. Seward out-hit GCCC 9-5 and the Lady Saints did not have an error.

Seward is 39-11 and 8-4 in the Jayhawk West while the Broncbusters are 19-23 overall and 7-7 in the Jayhawk West. Seward hosts 11-33 Pratt for Sophomore Recognition Friday at 2 at Lady Saints Field. It is the last home double header for Seward this season. Seward is 17-3 at home.
