KSCB News - September 4, 2013 6:50 am

Liberal Lady Skins won their third straight match against rival Southwestern Heights in Kismet on Tuesday.
Liberal was slow to get going but once they did it was all Lady Red. The first set was knotted mid way through at 13 before Liberal got things rolling. The Lady Skins out scored Southwestern Heights 12-6 in the final 18 points of set to win the first 25-19. Senior Jai Chapman and freshman Jada Mickens led the team with 6 kills each.
The second set was a more one sided affair in favor of Liberal. After jumping out to an early 11-7 lead, Liberal breezed through the rest of the set wining 25-14. Chapman again led the Lady Skins at the net with 4 kills, this time joined by junior Megan Besecker who also had 4 kills. Liberal used their serve to their advantage in the set win. The Skins recorded 10 aces as a team including 3 by Chapman and 3 by senior Katie Garcia.
The third set was much like the second as Liberal jumped out to the lead and finished strong once again. Liberal lead by as many as 13 late before a Chapman kill finished things off 25-14.
Chapman led Liberal with 14 kills while Besecker added 11. Mickens also cracked double digits with 10 kills and led the Lady Skins with a .714 hitting percentage in her first varsity match. Garcia dished out 28 assists.
Liberal starts the season 1-0 and it will be back in action on Thursday at Garden City where they take on WAC teams Garden City and Great Bend.
