OPSU Opens Home Season Saturday Night

KSCB News - September 8, 2012 6:40 am

Goodwell, Okla.-"Wear Red, Get Rowdy, Rev It Up" for the Aggies’ first home
football game of the season this Saturday against Lindenwood
University-Belleville (Illinois)!

The OPSU Aggies were faced with a rough first game loss last week against
Missouri University S&T and hope to bounce back this weekend. OPSU had
plenty to work on this week and Coach Gaskamp and his squad look to turn
things around against a team who put up 589 yards of total offense last
week. It’s never easy coming off a tough loss, but with the right attitudes
and drive, success is obtainable.

The Lynx are coming off a big 43-37 win over Avila University, the first
game in the program’s inaugural season. They threw for over 300 yards and
rushed for 288, so their offense is their strong point. The Aggies will need
to focus on their air attack as quarterback Kerry Gibson completed 12-21 for
231 yards and 2 touchdowns. Their defense allowed 350 total yards of offense
and had 2 interceptions, but most of their yardage given up was on the
ground as Avila rushed for 225 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Aggies look to change their ball handling miscues this weekend and also
look to get things going with their offense. OPSU had a total of 246 yards
of offense last weekend and with better ball control, they should be able to
bounce back and compete against LU-B until the final whistle blows. The
Aggies have all the necessary parts to have a successful season and with
hard work and dedication, the Aggies have what it takes to make this game an
exciting game throughout.

Prior to the 7 p.m. kick-off, the Panhandle State Association of Alumni and
Friend invites everyone to attend the rededication ceremony and tailgate
party planned for 5:30 p.m. in the Oklahoma Panhandle State University
plaza. The group will provide hot dogs and all the fixings for hungry fans.

Admission prices for OPSU football games is $5 for general admission and $2
for children 8 and under and games are free for those with valid OPSU IDs.
The first 400 Aggie fans through the gate will receive a Rev It Up T-shirt
and we hope you plan to enjoy great family entertainment this Saturday with
the Aggies!
